Jenkins & Marr and the SMC Group plc
It gives us great pleasure to share with you some very exciting news regarding the ongoing evolution and development of Jenkins & Marr. We have joined, with immediate effect, the AIM listed architecture business The SMC Group Plc.
As you know J&M have grown substantially in size, turnover, profit level, and market position in the architectural industry in recent years. Also facilities management was successfully added in 2003. Our clients, colleagues and staff have all been instrumental in this process, recognizing that it is essential to deliver quality design work to the highest professional and commercial standards. The establishment of the Jenkins & Marr ‘philosophy’ and ‘approach’ to projects has helped cement a consistency of delivery across the company that has, we believe, been instrumental in our success at securing higher profile work.
Over recent months we have discussed restructuring to take the practice forward. This was considered specifically to ensure that the strengths of our business in sector and geographical diversity, public and privately funded work and key presence in several strong market sectors were maintained and developed for the continued growth and stability of the company and the benefit of all staff at every level.
We are now delighted to announce that following a recent approach from the SMC Group Plc we have now concluded discussions and as from 22nd September 2006 the practice will become SMC Jenkins & Marr, a wholly owned subsidiary of the group. Jenkins & Marr Facilities Management will also become part of the new company and share in the extended opportunities of the group. Facilities Management and Town Planning projects will continue to be developed and fronted by these individual teams while also continuing to successfully contribute jointly to all projects. Our partner, Peter Mulvey will be retiring from the business in the near future and we wish him all the very best for the future.
We are looking forward to sharing with you the benefits you will all see from this situation, and to introducing you to SMC’s Chief Executive, Stewart McColl and his colleagues who will expand upon the rationale behind this move and the strategy for growth being implemented by the overall Group. In the meantime, you may like to look at the SMC website for further detail about the group as www.smcgroupplc.com
We believe that the relationship with SMC is a fantastic opportunity, will enhance our collective ability to deliver projects much more efficiently by way of sharing skill, resource, technology and geographical coverage. SMC Jenkins & Marr will continue to be run and managed by the existing partners as directors, assisted as always by the existing staff in all offices. …in short, it remains business as usual.
If you have any questions about this and other matters related to our business, we would be delighted to explain further and provide you with answers.
Kind Regards
Charles Smith, George Massie, David Nicol, Graham Montgomery and Iain Murray
